I just listened to a talk on creativity and genius. One of the main points was to have a location that allowed an individual to not only be there self, but able to bounce their thoughts off others and inversely be inspired by other creative people. I have had several different studios and found that “The Shirt Factory” offers that type of environment. I keep a studio here to not only create and show my art, but to be a destination away from the distractions of maintaining. It takes me 45 minutes to drive here from my home. The travel time is the transition zone whereby I morph from “cog” in the machine of life to “artist”. That’s when creativity can sneak in and expose it’s self. It is an elusive creature. Genius is something I have no knowledge of. I’m just happy when creativity stops by. My door is always open when I’m in the studio – there are no secrets to my process. Feel free to stop in, and know in advance that I do not give lessons. I’m still trying to teach myself. If you stop by, you’ll find me painting whatever I feel like. If you offer me money, I’ll paint what feels good to you instead.
I don’t have regular hours. Never here on Monday. Most days from 11 – 3. Rainy days on the weekend.
